Meet Senior Coach Alex Halikias

Mount Eliza Soccer Club are thrilled to announce and welcome Alex Halikias as our senior coach for season 2024.

With respect to all that showed interest, our football dept believe Alex’s desire for success, community values, player management and experience as a player and coach, will guide the club through a successful 2024 season.

Alex’s decision to coach at Mount Eliza was based on the clubs ambition for success and a desire to progress through promotion.“I was firstly impressed with my initial meeting with Justin, Gary and Fernando. I had the strong impression that they are all genuine & hungry for success in the Senior set-up. Secondly, I believe Mount Eliza is a club that you can start afresh and build from the ground up. Given that Mt Eliza have only been in the Football Victoria State 5 system for 8 months, there's a massive opportunity to build a strong culture.I'd like to create an all-inclusive & positive atmosphere for players to be a part of and learn, as well as nurturing the young talent coming through and committing to player development within the large junior base Mount Eliza has. I believe that Mount Eliza can be a 'destination club' not only for juniors but seniors alike. I see a real opportunity to collectively create something special with a great club.”

As a coach Alex has many years of coaching behind him including Rowville Eagles, Harrisfield Hurricanes, Bayswater Strikers, Richmond, Casey Comets & Brighton. His playing career includes stints at, Morwell Pegasus, Waverley Wanderers, Seaford, Mornington, Caulfield Cobras and Morwell/Gippsland Falcons in the NYL/NSL days. As a Gippsland resident in his junior years, he was selected to represent the Latrobe Valley in the Vic Country Championships and selected in the Vic Country Squad.

Alex is keen to meet with current players and welcomes expression of interest from those wanting to share in our journey. Pre-season training will commence mid-November.
