Team Managers FAQ

Q: I’m new to this whole Team Manager gig where do I start?

Q: Will there be and Team Managers Information Night?

Yes, just before the season starts.

Q: How do I communicate with my team?

A: Set up a WhatsApp group and use Sportsplus (rough guide on the website)

Q: When will kits (Uniforms) be delivered?

A: Generally, 1-2 weeks before the season starts.

Q: Should we have a Ground Marshal for our games when we play away?

A: Yes! Ground Marshals should be assigned for both home and away games for all team. See Team Managers webpage for basics of a Ground Marshal role.

Q: When does the season start?

A: See Club Facebook/Instagram pages and website for dates, for Juniors its normally April to September the season.

Q: Where is the fixture ?

A: Football Vic & Bayside League publish the fixture both will be on the club website when available. https://www.mountelizasoccerclub.com.au/fixture-and-results/

Q: Why do only have fixtures up to round 4?

A: The week of round 5 is when Football Victoria will change leagues for Under 12’s and Up. For example, if your team has won every game by 10 goals you can request to go up a league (EG D League to C League). Same goes for if you have lost by big margins and want to go down.

Q: What is the Mount Eliza Cup?

A: Massive tournament held by the club generally each October lots of fun everyone gets involved clubs come from all over Melbourne to play.

Q: Who loads the fixture into SporstPlus?

A: Team Managers do it; it takes a while but will be well worth it as the season moves on. at the start of year only load rounds 1-4. 

Q: Is their Trophies at the end of the year?

A: Yes, make sure your team is up-to-date in Sportsplus, this is where the club gets the names for the trophies from.

B: Under 12 and up the club supplies a Best & Fairest Trophy up to you how it is awarded.

Q: I don’t have enough players this week for a team.

A: Ask your fellow TMs for players there are heaps of kids who want to play more games in a day. See Cancelation guide on the website for help filling a team.
Reminder the Girls play Sunday so as an example Under 10 Boys on Saturday could Ask Under 9 Boys or Under 9 or Under 10 Girls.

Q: Are Team Photos compulsory?

A: No, however they are nice to have even if a player is not purchasing photos, it’s nice to be in them for those that are.

Q: How much do we pay a parent to referee a game?

Under 7-11's = Nothing they should do it for the love of it.
Under 12's Up = Football Vicotira should provide a Referee however they often do not espicaly for grades below A grade.  Parents can be paid to referee games up to the regular Match Payments a Football Referee would be paid for Refereing that age group.

Q: We are playing in a cup and have two number 10’s how do I get a different numbered Jersey?

A: Ask in the team managers WhatsApp there are heaps of kids at the club swapping for a short time should be easy if all else fails email footballcomms@mountelizasoccerclub.com.au

Q: What type of fruit should the parents supply for the kids at half time?

A: Oranges cut in to 6-8pieces are generally a winner.

Q: We don’t have a parent available to Ref can we hire one?

A: Generally, yes, there are older kids who are happy to earn some extra cash refereeing games, but this is not always the case. https://www.mountelizasoccerclub.com.au/development/team-managers/

Q: Who pays for a Ref if we need to hire one from the kids at the Club to do a game.

A: The Parents have to pay (Under 7-11 See above) . One team manager collects $30 off each set of parents at the start of the season for just such a case. They then refund the unused amount at the end of the season. See Website for Details on Ref’s.

Q: Are there Team photos if so, when?

A: The Club will organise dates, Team Managers will organise a time for their team. Photos tend to be at the backend of the season.

Q: Are games on the Kings Birthday weekend?

A: Yes, as a general rule so plan ahead. Suggest asking in May who is available that weekend so you know and can pre-plan replacements.

Q: I need to cancel a game what do I do?

A: Hopefully the above never happens and it should be the last resort. See guide to game cancelation on the website under Team Magners Development. Reminder there are a lot of kids at the club happy to play extra games.

Q: What is Gameday?

App for adding in scores, Team Sheets, and all match details for Under 12’s and Up ONLY.

Q: Do I need ID cards for my team?

Yes Under 12 and up they will be sent out by the club just before round 1. All Players Under 8 and up must be registered with Football Victoria.

Q: Where do we register to players and Volunteers with Football Victoria?

Q: Is there a cost to register to with Football Victoria?

A: No, it might say there is however it will be waived during the process your player fees cover this.

Q: Is there a lost property at the club?

A: The club is one big lost property, there is that much stuff left behind, check in the Shipping Container at Emil Madsen.

Q: Our game is last to play what do we have to pack up and lock up?

A: Please ensure the below

-All Equipment, seats, flags, signs etc are put away.

-Please ensure the Cabin, shipping Container and toilets are locked.

-Keys are returned to lock safe at both locations.
